Health Workforce Stakeholder Group

In February, the Health Workforce Stakeholder Group (HWSG) reviewed the final draft of the 2023 Health Workforce Needs Assessment (HWNA) and provided guidance and input to support the final submission to the Department of Health and Aged Care.

The annual HWSG meeting took place on 14 September 2023 with over 25 industry organisations from across remote and rural Queensland in attendance. During the meeting, members identified key issues impacting general practice, nursing, allied health, and First Nations health workforce. The HWSG also provides a forum to consider the HWQ’s annual Health Workforce Needs Assessment and to strengthen opportunities for collaboration and partnerships. This year’s topics were drawn from key recommendations from the Ministerial Taskforce Report around increasing access to primary care and encouraging multidisciplinary teams.
