Why Become a Member / Benefits of Being a Member  

If you are passionate about a robust primary healthcare workforce throughout rural Queensland, we invite you to become a Member of Health Workforce Queensland. We can provide you with a variety of opportunities to further enhance the rural health sector.

Queensland is a large state with ever changing health workforce and service needs. We see our members as an integral participant in the ongoing conversation about innovative and sustainable health workforce solutions to address the local needs.

Membership Classes

Health Workforce Queensland has three classes of membership:

Individual

Applicants for individual membership must demonstrate that they possess attributes 1 to 3 and preferably have one or more of attributes 4 to 6:

  1. Share the values of the organisation;

  2. Commitment to remote or rural health;

  3. Other attributes that will add value to the organisation;

  4. Is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage;

  5. Resides in a remote or rural location (MMM4-MMM7); and

  6. Is or was a remote or rural clinician (includes General Practitioners, Allied Health Professionals, Nursing & Midwifery, and Aboriginal Health Workers/ Aboriginal Health Professionals).

Confirmation of individual membership is at the discretion of the Health Workforce Queensland Board.

Individual members are entitled to one vote at the Annual General Meeting and General Meetings of the Company. Individual members can also be nominated to the Board of Directors.

 The annual membership fee of $50.00 (including GST) is payable by 30 September each year. Payment in full is required to ensure continuation of membership, receipt of notice of general meetings and voting rights.

Organisational

Applicants for organisational membership must demonstrate they possess the following attributes:

  1. Share the values of the organisation;

  2. Commitment to remote or rural health; and

  3. Other attributes that will add value to the organisation.

Confirmation of organisational membership is at the discretion of the Health Workforce Queensland Board.

Organisational members are entitled to attend the Annual General Meeting and General Meetings of the Company but are not eligible to vote or hold office in the Company.

The annual membership fee of $50.00 (including GST) is payable by 30 September each year. Payment in full is required to ensure continuation of membership and receipt of notice of general meetings.

Honorary

The Board may elect as honorary Members of the Company, upon such terms and subject to such conditions as the Board may from time to time determine, such persons who by reason of their special qualifications are entitled, in the opinion of the Board, to such privilege.

An honorary member is for life, unless they cease to be a Member (for any reason). The Board may in its absolute discretion revoke any honorary membership at any time.

Honorary members are entitled to attend the Annual General Meeting and General Meetings of the Company but are not eligible to vote or hold office in the Company.

The annual membership fee is waived for Honorary members.

Honorary membership can be given to an individual (Member or non-Member) the Board believes is entitled to such privilege in acknowledgement of their service to Health Workforce Queensland; and/or service to remote or rural health in Queensland communities.

The Individual being given Honorary membership must:

  1. Share the values of the organisation;

  2. Be committed to remote or rural health; and

  3. Hold other attributes that will add value to the organisation.
