2 Days (Sat-Sun)
Trauma care is time-critical, with the goal of minimising the time from injury to definitive care. However, in rural areas, this time is often prolonged due to geography and accessibility. Rural locations also see higher rates of farming, mining, industrial, and motor vehicle accidents, along with increased access to firearms. General Practitioners in these areas are frequently called to manage trauma in its early stages, requiring advanced emergency care skills to stabilise patients until specialist care is available.
Why Attend?
This dynamic 2.5 day workshop features:
Engaging Interactive Lectures: Learn from expert presenters on topics such as severe and less severe trauma, advances in trauma care, x-rays in trauma, procedures in trauma including ICC insertion, lateral canthotomy, burns, plastering and paediatric trauma.
Collaborative Small Group Case Discussions: Engage in real-world scenarios with your peers, promoting teamwork and cross-disciplinary learning experiences.
Practical Procedural Skills Stations: Gain hands-on experience in essential techniques for rural emergencies including intraosseous and intercostal catheterisation, lateral canthotomy, nasal packing and plastering and more.
