Job Title: Aboriginal Health Worker/Practitioner - Indigenous - Fraser Coast, Queensland.
Job Type: Permanent - Full Time
Hours:
Clinic Days are Monday – Friday Rostered hours between the hours of 8 am to 6 pm. No after hours or on-call. Occasional attendance at community events may be out of hours or on the weekend.
Practice Information:
This Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service works with the local Indigenous community and relevant key stakeholders to increase access to culturally safe, quality, coordinated and comprehensive primary health care services. They focus on healthcare across the life span, including the management and reduction of chronic disease, to address the health and social inequities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of the Fraser Coast Region.
This organisation is Queensland’s second-largest AMS (established in 2007). They provide a culturally appropriate wraparound service to the Fraser Coast’s Indigenous communities through our two clinics in Hervey Bay and Maryborough, as well as their Outreach Service to the local surrounding areas.
Position Details:
As Aboriginal Health Worker/Practitioner you would lead to improve health outcomes of First Nations People. You are responsible for providing health services activities embodying Primary Health Care to Communities, in a professional and culturally safe manner. All duties of the role are to be carried out in conjunction with the practice’s policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Knowledge of cultural protocols
Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal communication skills including client and community liaison, negotiation and networking.
Work to foster productive relationships with all clinic, program and support staff.
Contribute and proactively work towards a Health Worker/Practitioner led model of care in all aspects of our work in the clinics, outreach, and community.
Apply primary health care skills obtained through training and experience to assist in the management of social and emotional wellbeing, delivery of health assessments, community screening and primary health care intervention
Demonstrated ability to comply with the profession’s code of ethics and function in accordance with legislation.
Consistently be aware of, and comply with workplace health and safety procedures and requirements.
Act within the practice guidelines, AHPRA regulations, codes of ethics and at an appropriate level of clinical competence always
Mandatory Qualifications/Professional Registrations and Licences:
Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Worker/Practitioner OR working towards
Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
Current Blue Card
Current annual CPR Certificate
Current First Aid Certificate (every three years)
Current Criminal history check.

Salary package
Competitive base salary + salary sacrifice (up to $15,990)
