Mixed Billing Nurse support Close to all North Queensland attractions
Job Title: Locum General Practitioner - Charters Towers, Queensland.
Job Type: Temporary / Contract
Hours: Full-Time
Proposed Locum Period: 15th July 2024 until 29th December 2024
Practice Information:
This medical centre has been caring for the health of the Charters Towers community for over 30 years. All their doctors live in the community or within the surrounding rural area. They have expanded from a one-doctor practice in 1985 to a nine-doctor practice with ten nurses, numerous visiting allied health providers and specialists in 2020. Their purpose-built surgery was designed and built in 1993 and expanded into the heritage building next door in 2013. The practice aims to provide the highest quality medical care as courteously and effectively as possible. They aim to give their patients the highest possible quality of care, by ensuring excellence in all aspects of our practice. The practice endeavors to provide patients with the best and most current treatments, methods, materials and equipment within our resource capabilities to ensure that the patients receive the high quality of service they have come to expect. They believe that patients come first and they are committed to promoting health, wellbeing and disease prevention to all patients. They do not discriminate in the provision of excellent care and aim to treat all patients with dignity and respect. Teamwork is highly valued and encouraged within the practice to promote a harmonious and productive environment. They hold great importance in ethical and responsible behaviour as essential to maintain the trust and loyalty of our patients and staff. They provide a comprehensive range of General Practice health services from childhood immunisations and treatment of common childhood illnesses through to chronic diseases like diabetes and the care of our elderly in Charters Towers. Teaching is an important part of their General Practice philosophy and students enhance the vibrant nature of our practice. The team is lead by owners/General Practitioners Dr Kevin Zischke and Dr Jean Covey. They manage the Clinical and Practice Management of our Independent Contractors (3), Employee Doctors (Registrars and OTD) (2) and a Nurse Practitioner (1). Supported our Clinical staff are our Registered (4) and Enrolled nurses (3), Student in Nursing and Assistant in Nursing staff. Supported also by a Practice Manager, Receptionists and Office Assistant.

Qualifications & Experience:
AHPRA Registration with the Medical Board of Australia
Sound knowledge of General Practice medicine
CPR certificate
Continuing professional development through RACGP – QA & CPD or ACRRM
Salary Information:
65% of gross billings.
About Charters Towers:
The Medical Centre is in Charters Towers which is situated inland in the Burdekin River Valley, about 130kms southwest from the coastal port of Townsville via the Flinders Highway. Charters Towers is at an altitude of 336 metres has an excellent climate – clear, semi-arid, sunlit winter days and cool to warm summer evenings. Charters Towers is a heritage city of approximately 10,000 people and about 2,000 of that represents the students at the three major boarding colleges in town (P-12). There are also 3 state primary schools and 1 state high school. The city services a large gold mining industry and a very large beef cattle industry including may home-stay properties. Charters Towers has many amenities including a first class theatre, gym, tennis clubs, golf course, netball, soccer, league and rugby clubs. The Burdekin River offers fishing, canoeing and camping for an outdoor lifestyle, a short drive away to the Burdekin Dam caters for water skiing and fishing enthusiasts.
