About Kingaroy: Kingaroy is a rural town and locality in the South Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia. The town is situated on the junction of the D'Aguilar and the Bunya Highways, 218 kilometres north-west of the state capital Brisbane and 141 kilometres south west of Gympie. In the 2021 census, the locality of Kingaroy had a population of 10,266 people. Kingaroy is the seat of the South Burrnett Region. It is known as the "Peanut Capital of Australia" because Australia's largest peanut processing plant is located in the town and it's peanut silo dominates the skyline. Kingaroy is also known as the hometown of former Premier of Queensland, Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen. Kingaroy is surrounded by extensive (and very picturesque) farmlands interspersed with low rolling hills.
