Job Title: Locum General Practitioner - Mackay, Queensland.
Job Type: Temporary / Contract - Full Time.

Practice Information:
This practice currently has doctors sitting their exams, and one who has finished working, hence the need of a locum. This is a local doctor family-owned practice that has been established for more than 35 years and always largely a private billing practice. If you want to have a work family environment and a place you enjoy coming to work, than this is the practice for you. Your fellow GPs and staff are highly professional, friendly and organized. All consulting rooms have their own windows, doctors have undercover carpark and pathology is on-site.
Nursing Support: Full nurse support, 3 bed treatment room plus Care Plan room plus vaccination room, plus additional private treatment room
Admin: Full time Practice Manager and Reception team
Practice Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm,
About Mackay:
Mackay is a sunny beachside city with a large choice of private schools and its own university, airport to major airlines. Hamilton Island is a little more than 2 hours away and Eungella National Park is about 1 hour away. Mackay is also serviced by Mackay Base Hospital, Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Mackay Private Rehab Hospital and Icon Cancer Treatment Centre.
Position Description:
The role of the general practitioner is to provide primary continuing healthcare services to individuals, families and the local community. The position requires the general practitioner to have the necessary clinical skills to make an assessment of a patient’s medical condition and the ability to provide the most appropriate investigations, procedure, other treatment and/or referral to allied health, community health professionals or specialist consultation to provide the best possible outcome for the patient. Adhering to the standards set out by the RACGP for clinical practice, the general practitioner must provide a complete service with recall systems, education, prevention programs and continuity of care to the patient as well as participate in continuing professional development. The position of general practitioner requires the diagnostic ability and general medical knowledge as applied to treatment options for the following core clinical skill set: (A) MEDICAL: Aged care Dermatology Diabetes Mellitus and other endocrine and metabolic diseases Digestive diseases (e.g. gastroenteritis) Diseases of the ear, nose, throat Heart disease Hyper- and hypotension Musculoskeletal problem diagnosis Neurological problem diagnosis Paediatrics Palliative care Respiratory diseases (e.g. asthma) Sexually transmitted infection diagnosis Skin lesion diagnosis (e.g. solar keratosis, basal cell carcinoma) Urinary Tract Infections Follow up patients discharged from hospital and/or referral from allied health professional, community care or specialist as required (B) Ability to perform the following assessments, procedures and schedules: Blood and urine requesting and imaging Body examinations Counselling advice Vaccination including childhood, travel and government programs ECG (interpretation and emergency) Spirometry interpretation Ear toileting Diagnosis of pathology, imaging, and recall system Pregnancy care and post care Clear, concise record keeping in patients file.

A flat rate of $1000 per week is on offer, to offset expenses such as a car and/or accommodation.
You earn 100% of your billings and pay a Practice Service fee of 35% which would be greater than a flat rate as we are mostly a private billing practice.
