Job Title: Registered Psychologist – Charleville, Queensland
Hours: Permanent - Full Time
Practice Information:
This clinic has been delivering evidence-based education, training, assessment, and intervention for over 20 years. Originally established in 2001, the clinic was relaunched 2011, and was rebranded in 2021. In 2023, they opened rural hubs in Charleville and Kingaroy. In 2024, it was their 21st year in business, and to celebrate they are relocated to 11 Westland Street, Toowoomba. The owner is the Clinical Director, Michelle Aniftos, who has lived and worked in regional south-east Queensland for over forty years. In addition to clinical care, the clinic provides mental health education, training and supervision that is responsive to identified workforce and service needs in regional, rural, and remote Southern Queensland.
Their values are clear:
Collaboration: Interprofessional, Interagency and Consumer-Centred
Learning: Knowledge, Understanding and Reflective Growth
Equity: Improved access to services for consumers and the health workforce
Accountability: Data Safety, Quality Improvement, and Financial Sustainability
Respect: Personal, Social & Cultural Safety and Satisfaction.
Their goal is to work collaboratively with their clients to understand their strengths and challenges in ways that promote their ability to live a healthier and satisfying daily life. They are committed to quality health care to improve physical and mental health by integrating best research evidence with clinical expertise and consumer values. Their initiatives respond to the Australian National Mental Health Reform agenda toward stepped care in mental health with programs ranging from preventative to more intensive service delivery. They do not have emergency services. Their services target cognitive, behavioural, and neurological processes that regulate wellbeing. In addition to disorder-specific approaches, the brain-based ‘transdiagnostic’ model of care recognizes the high prevalence of co-occurring health challenges that require a personalized approach to improve well-being and daily functioning, e.g., for clients:
who have limited success with traditional disorder-focussed treatment
for whom there is limited evidence-based psychological treatment
with complex concerns requiring assessment to inform diagnosis, and inter-professional treatment plans.
The practice accepts a broad range of clients from early childhood to senior adults, with presentations typical of:
Neurodevelopmental Disorders (Intellectual Disability, Attention-deficit, Autism, and Learning)
Anxiety and Mood-related Disorders
Stress-related Physiological Responses to adverse life events (e.g., health conditions, work, relationships).
