This year's Annual Report Photo Competition has showcased the many talented photographers we have in Queensland, of who have captured the beauty of Rural Queensland perfectly. We thank all the applicants this year for entering the competition.
The competition was tough, but we have a winner! We are excited to announce that the winner of the 2021/2022 Annual Report Photo Competition is Paul Robinson of Emu Creek, with his photograph of Emu Creek Hall.
Paul explained, ‘Out here, in Emu Creek, we are lucky to have such beautiful dark night skies. I decided to submit a photo I took of our local hall, the Emu Creek Hall, underneath the milky way. The hall, like so many other halls around rural Queensland, is such a typical part of the landscape in country areas. Country halls have played an important part for many years in bringing people from the surrounding areas together and I think that taking the photo at night underneath the stars adds to a uniquely Aussie scene’.
We agree Paul. The hall and bushland have a grounded country feel to them, which is contrasted by that huge sky, boldy lit by the Milky Way.
Congratulations Paul, your backyard is beautiful, and you’ve captured a stunning image!
