In this month's Region in Focus, we look at the rural and remote health workforce in Northern Queensland.
Key findings have been drawn from the 2023 Health Workforce Needs Assessment (HWNA), which is undertaken annually by Health Workforce Queensland (HWQ), and targets health professionals located in MM2 – MM7 locations.
In 2022, the survey captured 290 responses from practitioners in the Northern Queensland region and documented their perceptions of workforce and service gaps in their region, in addition to their thoughts on factors influencing health staff departures.
