In early September, the Gladstone Health Workforce Collaborative delivered its second Principles of Effective Clinical Supervision workshop in partnership with the University of Queensland (UQ), with sponsorship by Gladstone Women’s Health and Integreat Gladstone.

Designed for health practitioners seeking to enhance their skills and confidence in supervising university students whilst on placement, these interactive workshops have resulted in 13 local medical, nursing and allied health practitioners being upskilled across primary and tertiary care in Gladstone, with additional workshops planned for 2025.

These workshops are just one of the initiatives of the Gladstone Health Workforce Collaborative. In addition to supporting practices to strengthen their capability and capacity to provide clinical supervision and mentorship to university students and new graduates, the Collaborative is also focused on:

  • Onboarding a local Health Workforce Connector for Gladstone , with recruitment currently underway.

  • Increasing access to suitable housing and accommodation for students on placement, new-to-the area health professionals and visiting specialists.

  • Coordinating community support for health students, graduates and health professionals relocating to Gladstone.
