We’re thrilled to announce the return of the Trauma Workshop to Rockhampton on 29-30 March 2025! It’s been over two years since we last hosted a workshop in this vibrant region, and we can’t wait to reconnect with the incredible healthcare professionals who call Rockhampton and its surrounds home.
Hosting workshops in regional areas provides invaluable benefits for local healthcare professionals and their communities. These events improve accessibility, reducing the need for long-distance travel, minimising time away from practice, and ensuring continuity of care for their communities. Additionally, these workshops strengthen local networks, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among peers. By empowering local healthcare providers, we are embracing the theme of our 2025 workshop series, Greater Doctors, Greater Communities - fostering the growth of skilled professionals who play a vital role in improving health outcomes for regional populations.
In our most recent Educational Needs Assessment Survey, health professionals indicated a strong preference for face-to-face workshops, with a median score of 4.06 out of 5. Additionally, regional centres were the most frequently selected first preference for CPD locations, chosen by approximately 61 percent of practitioners. This highlights the critical importance of bringing quality education and training directly to regional areas.
Rockhampton, known for its iconic agricultural and mining industries, is a hub of regional activity. However, these industries inherently come with higher risks of traumatic accidents, making advanced trauma management skills even more critical for local healthcare providers. This year’s workshop will focus on critical trauma management, including practical procedural skills, paediatric trauma, and tailored approaches for special cases like burns, spinal injuries, and bariatric care.
“Excellent practical clinical skills, sessions with good guidelines to support early assessment intervention.”
