The QAIHC 2022 Awards for Excellence were held in Brisbane last night, Wednesday 7 December. These annual awards celebrate the successes of Queensland’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community-Controlled Health Organisations over the past year.
Health Workforce Queensland are proud to be a sponsor of this event again and Director Naomi Blake, CEO Chris Mitchell and HWQ staff attended the awards evening. Chris Mitchell said, “it was an important event to mark the achievements of the sector and to celebrate with the Award recipients who provide essential care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Queensland".
Six awards were presented throughout the evening and Chris Mitchell had the pleasure of presenting the QAIHC Leader of the Year Award to Theresa Simpson. Theresa is the CEO of Mookai Rosie Bi-Bayan, which has been providing a safe, healthy, and caring environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children attending medical treatment in Cairns. Congratulations Theresa and thank you for your continued support of the community.
